Hello, Everybody! I’m Raymond.
Before I get injured, I am an indigenous New Territories resident. When I was seven, a car accident injured my cervical spine, and caused my Paraplegia and damaged right hand. Afterwards, I needed to rely on the powered wheelchair to continue my rest of life. Fortunately, with the strong support and encouragement from my family, I go through the hardest and the most painful period, and continue my study in Hong Kong Red Cross Princess Alexandra School where students are all handicapped at different levels. With the caring from nurses, social workers, therapists and dormitory parents, I happily finish my primary school and secondary school.
When I left school and entered into the society, I met Mr. Law Wai Tong from Direction Association. At that time, I lived in walled village where the traffic condition was not as developed as now. Luckily Tong always rode me to participate in different activities organized by DA. Gradually, my confidence was rebuilt, and I was also inspired to learn and apply the driving license to give myself more freedom. In terms of my activities of daily living, since I have learned independence in my early years and developed close relationship with my siblings, my character is now tough and confident with my parents’ love and caring, and I can find solutions myself to solve various troubles I meet as well. Later, I believe in the Lord Jesus, and all sisters and brothers will help and encourage each other. Therefore, I think I am blessed by the Lord. I never give up due to my trauma.
My first job was to work for the film studio of Director Tsui Hark and take charge of the film’s post-production, including Green Snake, Once Upon a Time in China 3 and Last Hero in China etc..
My second job was to serve as the communicator in Hutchison Telecom, but my physical condition did not allow me to continue. After that, I began to discover my own interests in life, and gradually become interested in air pistol shooting. Through hard training, I was promoted to the Hong Kong Sports Team for the handicapped, and represented Hong Kong as the handicapped athlete to watch and participate in various shooting competitions. As a result, I met and knew many friends from different countries and my horizon was also broadened.
Although my job career is now suspended, my voluntary works are much more brilliant and wonderful. In my spare time, I will not only help various organizations to sell flags, but also formally join in DA as The Life Fighter to share my life experience for the purpose of positively influencing and encouraging others, contributing to the society and spreading the positive energy.
At last, I wish all of you a healthy and happy life. God Bless You All!.
